Since 27 September 2026, Directive (EU) 2024/825 requires every trader selling goods to EU consumers to show the harmonised EU legal guarantee notice. Where the producer offers a free commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years, the EU GARAN label must be shown too. This short video explains the rules and shows how the EU Guarantee Notice & GARAN Label plugin puts both in a WooCommerce shop.
What your shop has to show
- The EU legal guarantee notice, the official harmonised artwork, for goods sold to EU consumers.
- The EU GARAN label, when the producer offers a free durability guarantee of more than two years.
- The minimum software-update period for goods with digital elements.
How the plugin does it
Right after activation, the notice appears on every product page and at checkout with the default settings, in all 24 EU languages. For each product you then enter the producer’s guarantee of durability and, where it applies, the minimum software-update period; the GARAN label and the update period appear on that product and at checkout. At checkout the notice is shown once, followed by the label of every product in the cart that has one.
Settings worth knowing
- Position on product page: after the add to cart button (default), in the product summary, after the product meta or before the product tabs.
- Shop pages: show the notice above the products on shop, category and tag pages (off by default).
- Place it anywhere else with the block or the shortcode
[ndlpp_legal_guarantee_notice]. - Green claims scanner: flags vague environmental claims in your product texts for review.
Frequently asked questions
Which shops does this apply to?
Any shop that sells goods to consumers in the EU, wherever the shop itself is based.
Do I need the GARAN label on every product?
No. Only on products whose producer offers a free commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years. The legal guarantee notice itself is shown for all goods.
Is the plugin legal advice?
No. It is a templating tool: it shows the official artwork and the values you enter, but it does not check whether your values are correct or your shop is compliant.
